Colleague Dr. Nataša Vujičić and colleagues Dr. Silvije Vdović have written an expert article on the awarded Nobel Prize in Physics in the magazine Chemistry in the industry.
Arthur Ashkin, Gérard Mourou and Donna Strickland are the winners of the Nobel Prize in Physics for their revolutionary discoveries in the field of laser physics. Arthur Ashkin, of his 96 years, is the oldest Nobel laureate winner, to be shared with prof. Gérard Mourou with École Polytechnique in France and prof. Don Strickland from Waterloo University, Canada. Ashkin received the Nobel Prize for Discovery of Optical Tweezers for the purpose of capturing and manipulating particles, atoms and live cells. Mourou and Strickland shared the award for the development of laser pulse boosting techniques – Chirped Pulse Amplification (CPA), which has become a standard technique for boosting pulse energy in femtosecond laser amplifiers.
